Google to Shut down Ask and Answer Feature on April 30

The search engine giant, Google, has announced via email that it will be shutting down its “Ask and Answer” feature by the end of this month (April).

Google to Shut down "Ask and Answer" Feature on April 30

This implies the tech giant will stop showing the Frequently Asked Questions and Answers that are usually displayed atop search results.

Google informed the users of its intentions via email by saying,

“You received this email because you’ve created one or more questions or answers on Google.

Thank you for asking questions and sharing your knowledge on Google. We have decided to turn down the “ask and answer” feature on Search.

On April 30th, we will stop showing the questions and answers you’ve created on Google Search, and on June 30th, they will be removed from your contributions page.”

The Ask and Answer feature was only introduced a few years back. It occupied the top position of relevant search results with answers to the query and some related questions.

By tapping on any of the options, the feature would expand, providing users with a short and straightforward answer for their queries while at the same time adding more questions to the list.

Most of the answers to the questions were filled with content from publishers.

Users could also upload their answers for the same, with Google deciding to show the most relevant and well-researched answer in its search results.

How can You Download all of Your Questions and Solutions?

Google will allow all its users to download all of the questions and answers asked by them until June 30, even though they will be removed from the Search query page from April 30.

To download your questions and answers, you’ll be required to use the Google Takeout service by clicking here.

Once in, you’ll have to sign in to your account and then select the Search Contributions option. This will create a record of all of your contributions, which are questions and answers.

After the record is generated, you’ll receive a notification via an e-mail with a download link.

Are you Still Interested in Being Found on Google Search Engine?

If you continue to need your profile or your organization profile to be found in search outcomes, you possibly can create your individual “people card.”

The new feature will spotlight your present website or social media profiles. To access this feature, type “add me to search” on the Google search engine and follow the steps.
