Google Has Released Google Ads API Version 7.0

Google has announced the released version 7.0 of the Google Ads API, which is a massive shift from version 6.1.0 released on April 10, 2021.

Google Has Released Google Ads API

The search giant told users interested in switching to upgrade their client libraries and client code.

What is  Google Ads API?

The API lets you programmatically interface with your Google Ads accounts so that:

  • You can automatically bring in reporting to your own stack
  • Build-in procedures to automate your ad creation, change your bids or bidding strategies and more.

The API enables developers to interact directly with the Google Ads platform. Some features include:

  1. Automated account management
  2. Custom reporting
  3. Ad management based on inventory
  4. Manage Smart Bidding strategies

Below is a summary highlight of version 7.0 of the Google Ads API, which can be accessed by clicking this link.

  • There are new assets that are available in test accounts, namely:
  1. Callout assets
  2. Structured snippet assets
  3. Site links assets
  • The promotion assets added are available in production and test accounts.
  • The Google Ads API now supports reporting for Apple’s SKAdNetwork.

This feature allows advertisers to query how many SKAdNetwork conversions they receive from their iOS apps as well as the SKAdNetwork conversion value of those conversions.

  • Keyword Planning now supports:
  1. Refining keywords using annotation data
  2. Selecting a custom date range for search volume
  3. Requesting aggregate metrics for generated keyword ideas and for keywords in a keyword plan
  • Google has also added ad_group_ad label and ad_group_criterion_label labels for easier filtering and selection.
  • You can now manage bidding strategy and campaign simulations.
  • Google has updated the resource exceeded errors to include more detail such as what type of limit was exceeded and how many resources are allowed by that limit.
  • You can now use marginal ROI campaign budget recommendations. This recommendation suggests adjusting a campaign’s budget if we predict that its ROI will go up.

The Google Ads API, which was an upgrade from the Google Adwords API, was fully released in September 2020 after having earlier bugs that caused the software to be reverted months earlier.

Version 7.0 should be stable but if you want to wait and see, you can always do that.
