March-3: As apps with collaboration attributes are unveiled to Google Workspace, the search engine giant wants to make it easier for admins to control their organization’s data.
This is why Google has announced it has expanded Data Regions coverage, and Assured Controls will be soon unveiled on the platform.
Google is expanding Workspace’s Data Regions because most users need to follow specific parameters regarding where their data is geographically located. You can now use geo-locational controls to dictate where covered data is located using select Google Workspace apps.
Data Regions have always been compliance and security staple for the industry. Besides, Google adds new covered applications and data apps to give its customers even deeper control frequently.
What is Assured Control?
Assured Control is a new feature added into the Workspace. It’s designed to allow users to control cloud computing service access.
Good news to users in the United States, The first feature of the add-on, Access Management, will be hitting the market very soon. Access Management gives users the capability to limit Google staff support to US citizens.
“As part of the Assured Controls feature set, we’ll first roll-out Access Management. Access Management enables customers to geographically limit Google staff support actions to U.S. Persons within our Support teams.”
Google further adds, “At launch, Access Management will be limited to accesses that are covered by Access Transparency in Gmail, Google Calendar, Google Docs, Google Drive, Google Sheets, and Google Slides, and will only be supported in the U.S. region.”
This is vital control for highly regulated and sensitive sectors in public service and finance.
Users don’t have to compromise when using the applications Google Workspace has to offer if they have access to the powerful information management capabilities guaranteed by Assured Controls.
Conversely, you can eliminate the complexity and added effort needed to manage a parallel cloud environment.
The search engine giant assures its users that it is fully committed to protecting their privacy.
“Note that we do not access customer data for any reason other than those necessary to provide support services and fulfill our contractual and legal obligations. When Support access is warranted, Access Management helps customers geographically limit that access. “
